Meet the Family

Kevin & Janet Meeker, Owners

For more than 20 years, Kevin & Janet have been inviting the Delaware Valley over for dinner. In 1976 they launched Los Amigos in Berlin, NJ and introduced true Mexican cuisine to the American palate. When they were ready for a new challenge in 1983, they combined Janet’s New England roots and Kevin’s world travels to create Philadelphia Fish & Company. At the time, Mako shark, mesquite grilling, and Ahi tuna served rare were all new to Philadelphia, but the city embraced the clean, true flavors the Meekers achieved. Their grilling and searing techniques combined with the finest seafood selections, fresh herbs, compound butter and olive oil were a hit. While other restaurants in Old City came and went, Philadelphia Fish & Co. thrived, earning accolades year after year. Today, they’ve turned their attention to Q: "We’re so excited to create a true Southern experience for our guests, and we think Philadelphians will feel right at home."

Tom Stewart, Partner

Tom’s roots run deep in the South with family ties to North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. Although Tom enjoyed a "Tom Sawyer" existence growing up in South Jersey, he spent his summers reconnecting with relatives who schooled him in southern living. On many a steamy day behind the house, Tom’s grandfather introduced him to family recipes and the time-honored tradition of smoking and grilling the finest cuts of meat. "The best part of slow-style barbequing was that it took all day, so you had plenty of time to kick back and enjoy the good company of family and friends." Tom’s special rubs and sauces are prepped, the smokers are seasoned, and he’s hoping you’ll join him for a drink before dinner.
